CTC@Robertson
arts program
and exhibition space

In Spring 2004 CTC@Robertson launched its arts program, consisting of exhibitions of Southern Highlands artists and other projects, including a mosaic pathway project funded through the Regional Arts NSW Country Arts Support Program and the Wingecarribee Council Community Grants.

The arts program makes use of centre’s facilities for digital photo and video editing. Robertson Community Cinema and film club are also an important part of the arts program of the CTC.

The 20th Century – Illegal Harmonies! A one-day workshop for music lovers in September (Amazing Musical Journeys 4)

From Elgar to Duke Ellington, from Bartók to Boulez to the Beatles, from Ravel to rap . . . The 20th century was the most musically varied in history. How did that happen? And why?

Illegal Harmonies – first a radio series, then a book – is Andrew Ford’s history of 20th-century music. In it, Andrew links a hundred years of musical developments to the social and political events surrounding them, to painting and writing, to the new medium of cinema, and to advances in technology that took these new sounds into people’s homes.

A newly revised third edition of the book has just been published by Black Inc. and ABC Classic FM will once again broadcast the 10-part series on Sunday lunchtimes, beginning in mid-September. The week before it starts, you’re invited to join Andrew Ford for an overview of the series, the book and the century in his latest Amazing Musical Journey!
