The Nature of Colour Paintings by local First Nations artist Pamela Luke; vintage Italian button jewellery from Catherine Hutton & felted vessels, scarves & artwork by Glynis Charles 11 July - 31 August 2024
Pamela Luke is a proud Darug woman who was born in Bowral in 1978. Currently residing in the Southern Highlands on Gundungurra Country, Pamela has intricately woven her roots into the fabric of her artistic endeavours. As a gifted weaver and intuitive artist specialising in Aboriginal Indigenous Art, Pamela runs a burgeoning art venture, Possum Tails Art. Through her business, Pamela teaches weaving workshops at local schools and Councils, spreading the art and knowledge inherent in this traditional skill. Pamela was part of a very successful group exhibition of First Nations artists at the CTC Robertson Gallery in 2022. We are very happy to welcome her back to the CTC Robertson with a selection of acrylic paintings for her first solo exhibition with us.
Glynis Charles exhibiting felted vessels, scarves. Glynis sculpts and shapes with fine Australian merino wool fibre using the ancient method of wet felting. With an amazing depth and range of colours it is as though she is painting with wool. Her inspiration is derived from nature and her pieces are often embellished with silk fibres and fabric.
Catherine Hutton exhibiting vintage Italian button jewellery. "The vintage resin Italian buttons from the 1950s and 60s that I have used to make these brooches and necklaces come from my annual visits to the 'mercatini antiquariato' in northern Italian towns such Verona, Bologna, Treviso and the delightfully names Portobuffole, and from chance encounters with fellow vintage button collectors."
