Sgraffito
an exhibition by Susie Woodbury
5 September - 26 October 2024
Susie gained an Associate Diploma of Fine Arts and a Certificate III Studio Ceramics from Illawarra TAFE in 1980s and much of her career from there was connected with teaching and practicing art in various forms. Her printmaking, ceramics and painting with acrylics have featured in exhibitions in Hornsby, Leichhardt, Bowral & Robertson.
"Sgraffito conveys my attempt to process an eclectic string of thoughts, observations and inspirations including the colours of ethnic art, carpets and textiles; studies of modern Indigenous art; objects around my home; family events; my decorative ceramics background; my printmaking background; and my travels. But this recent body of work mainly expresses my love of colour. Layers of bold, bright acrylic colour are overlaid with dark blue, red and white paint and then scraped back in a sgraffito technique which I often used in my days as a ceramic artist.
I have also included in this exhibition a small number of hand painted monoprints and photopolymer prints. The hand painted monoprints were produced last year whilst I was visiting Sumba Indonesia. They are my interpretation of motifs used in the Tenum Ikat weaving process which was the focus of my trip. The photopolymer prints, some hand painted, are influenced by the works of Picasso and Matisse."

Glynis Charles exhibiting felted vessels, scarves. Glynis sculpts and shapes with fine Australian merino wool fibre using the ancient method of wet felting. With an amazing depth and range of colours it is as though she is painting with wool. Her inspiration is derived from nature and her pieces are often embellished with silk fibres and fabric.
Catherine Hutton exhibiting vintage Italian button jewellery. "The vintage resin Italian buttons from the 1950s and 60s that I have used to make these brooches and necklaces come from my annual visits to the 'mercatini antiquariato' in northern Italian towns such Verona, Bologna, Treviso and the delightfully names Portobuffole, and from chance encounters with fellow vintage button collectors."

Beyond Imagining - from original to digital
8 February 2024 - 6 April 2024
8 February 2024 - 6 April 2024
A group exhibition which is a juxtaposition of older artists who are part of U3A Thursday art class and Thomas Walters-Whyte, a young artist who works with digital photography. This is a special show, with a wide variety of subjects, both realistic and abstract.
The U3A artists include George Morgan, Ian Pye, Laurel Cheetham, Sharron Markou and Susie Woodbury.
Thomas has always loved photography but has a flare in digitally altering images to create a certain mood or feeling from the photo. He is passionate about horses, wildlife, old buildings, and the Australian landscape and many of his collections are based around these interests.

2 November 2023 - 3 February 2024
2 November 2023 - 3 February 2024
Doreen Lyon - paintings and artist's books, cards (eco print and watercolour)
Nature has always held a special place in my heart and I have been able to use all my skills to create a multi media collection of work.
Ben Lyon - woodwork
I use salvaged or recycled timber as a preference as this gives often beautiful pieces a second restored life and the chance to be loved again.
Ingrida Spole - paintings (acrylics, gouache posca pen) and native cherry wooden spoons
I look for the influence of light, colour and shape. They are such strong and interesting forces.
Pam Berrell - paintings (charcoal, acrylic, collage, crayon, ink), pottery
The pleasure of selecting and cutting out the various shapes for the construction of an artwork is integral one with the other.
Linda Burgess - small quirky birds (camphor laurel, nails, wire)
My work is influenced by the natural world, I use wood, wire and repurposed materials to create birds, animals, decorative items and utilitarian objects.
Cathy Lawson - Kate's Cards and Paper Notions - all cards hand stamped/coloured/assembled by me in my little studio in the Southern Highlands
Catherine Hutton - Vintage Caterina - (jewellery)

Arts Of Work - an exhibition by Catriona Anderson
August 3 - October 28
" My new exhibition is a celebration of the colours of work. Worksites are often a riot of colours - with safety vests, flags, vehicles, signage and other equipment often warning us to keep clear. In my paintings the colours are bright, bold and beautiful, inviting us to move in and look more closely. "

A Slow Journey With Wool - an exhibition for winter by Fiona Dunbar King and Glynis Charles
June 1 - July 29 2022
June 1 - July 29 2022
The winter exhibition at CTC Robertson will feature woolly works by Glynis Charles and Fiona Dunbar King. Fiona's textile art is a series of landscapes inspired by scenes of the Southern Highlands that blur the lines between Art and Craft. Fiona is responding to the beauty of this land with a series of knitted landscapes and unique hats created from locally sourced wool.
Glynis has always had a deep connection to all things wool through the knitting and crocheting women of her family and especially through her Dad who spent his whole career involved in the manufacture of top quality Australian Woollen textiles. Glynis sculpts and shapes with fine Australian merino wool fibre using the ancient method of wet felting. With an amazing depth and range of colours it is as though she is painting with wool. Her inspiration is derived from nature and her pieces are often embellished with silk fibres and fabric.

About Face an Exhibition by Susie Woodbury
A colourful and thought provoking exhibition featuring acrylic paintings and hand coloured prints.
Susie has a background in decorative ceramics and printmaking, and combines her passions for religious art, ethnic textiles and carpets, and travel.
"This current body of work is also influenced by my interest in differing religious and cultural ideologies, and my own personal philosophies and values. About Face is my attempt to process an eclectic string of thoughts, observations and inspirations....the use of bright or intense colour in my work may initially appear joyful, but further scrutiny reveals a less cheerful essence or deeper personal conviction."

Dean Boyce, a retired journalist, historian and author, enjoyed a formal art training. He has exhibited his watercolours for more than 40 years. A figurative painter, his choice of subjects is eclectic but his favourites are landscapes and water scenes. He says, “There is something mystical about a landscape in particular that entices the viewer into the frame to explore the painted world.”
As a self-taught artist and pastelist, Jane Courtenay has always been drawn to portraiture and feels that capturing the essence of a person in a picture is the ultimate achievement of any portrait artist.

Out 4 a Duck Exhibition by Poss Keech
20 November 2020 - 30 January 2021
Poss Keech - Painter, Burrawang
Poss dreams in colours. For her, colour is everything; in food, in her garden, clothing and art. After a 35 year succession of restaurants, cafes and catering businesses in the Highlands, Poss has happily reinvented herself as an artist. Eclectic is an apt descriptor for the variety of media, subjects and styles evident in Poss's work. Despite her passion for colour, Poss often chooses the discipline of a restricted or neutral palette. Bush landscapes and desert colours inform Poss's work, but her love of animals and abstraction are also recurring themes.
